Job Summary/Description:  
WTOC is looking for the next great sports storyteller. This position is responsible for delivering content focused on stories behind the stats. Viewers aren't looking for highlights each night, they've already gotten the score on their phones or social media. WTOC's next sports director will work to find the stories viewers can't miss behind the teams in their communities.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Planning & coordinating coverage of local and regional sports events.
- Build & maintain strong relationships with collegiate athletic departments, local high schools, minor league teams, and other sports organizations in our area.
- Anchoring sports content in the 6 pm and 11 pm weekday newscasts, and other newscasts as coverage dictates.
- Planning, coordinating, and anchoring "The End Zone", a local high school football highlight show, each Friday night at 11:15 pm during the Fall high school sports season.
- Creating content for a weekly sports podcast with the assistance of our digital team.
- Posting sports content to the website.
- Sharing content on station social media accounts.
- Turn regular stories and features on local teams and athletes.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least two years experience in a newsroom covering sports is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in journalism or mass communication is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with ENPS, Edius, LiveU is preferred.
